Weight Loss Systems

It’s not possible to cover all of the weight loss systems that tie diets to specific foods, or the rotation of food groups, or that actually provide food to provide your nourishment while you’re dieting.

Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem are the two best known weight loss systems that provide cuisine for the dieter.  Neither of these programs is the inexpensive category of weight loss diet plans but both make staying on the diet a little easier because your daily intake is delivered to your door.

Medifast is similar in approach but uses a fairly strict low calorie and low protein diet.  The company offers a stable of meal replacement products – all generally formulated to be low-calorie and low-fat, and containing the optimum levels of vitamins.

The most popular plan is called 5 and 1. This plan (800-1000 calories daily) comprises 5 meal replacements and one “real” meal containing a lean protein and vegetables and salad. Medifast is, according to their claims, a fast weight loss diet with an average weight loss of 2-5 pounds per week.  It is a very low calorie intake but the diet has proven popular, even though the intake generally consists of shakes and soups.

This program consists of dietary supplements that are taken daily, a cookbook, some workout videos, a health reference book and access to the “Doctor’s” hotline. Some of the key ingredients found in Bioslim: supplements are green tea extract (assists the metabolism), Chromium polynicotinate (burns away fat and sugar) and Siberian ginseng meant to normalizes blood sugar levels.

Sensa is a system based on triggering the neurological sensations in your body that tell you your stomach is full – you are satiated.  The program provides you with shakers containing the program’s weight loss aids - powder that is to be shaken all over your food.  There is one designated as salt and the other as sweet, for use with the appropriate foods.  It’s a six month program that provides you with six months worth of shakers, changing the makeup slightly each month so your body doesn’t adapt to them.

Weight Watchers may be the oldest diet system on the market today, but it remains popular.  The system provides eating options and guidelines; your consumption is limited by the system’s “points plan” which establishes your consumption limits.  You can use those points at your discretion but they limit your total intake.  The system uses organized support groups to help dieters realize they are not alone.

The Adkins Diet has been enormously popular since its introduction.  It is a low-carbohydrates diet that allows you to eat protein and some foods containing substantial fat, but severely limits carbohydrate consumption.  The diet has proven to be successful for hundreds of thousands of people, at least in the initial weight reduction stage.  Today there are also food products on the market that have been licensed by the original company.

There are many more weight loss systems out there; we are touching on a few of the weight loss options that include a variety of approaches to dieting.  Whatever your choice, don’t forget to mix in a little exercise.  It will improve your outlook on the whole project enormously.
