Rembrandt is a Johnson & Johnson line of teeth whitening products that cover all of the teeth whitening options out there, for both professional teeth whitening and the at-home kits. Their professional system is a light-activated bleaching system that is one of many similar products available to your dentist. It’s gotten good reviews.
The Rembrandt at home teeth whitening options include the bleach-soaked whitening strips that are designed to be placed across your teeth. They are held in place by a mild adhesive and provide a low level of bleaching action. The strips are meant to be used for brief periods of time on a repetitive basis.
There is also a Rembrandt ‘two hour’ teeth whitening kit that uses mouth trays filled with bleaching gel and placed over your teeth. It’s similar to other bleaching systems meant to be used by consumers. The bleaching gel that goes in the trays makes contact with the surfaces of the teeth; the carbamide peroxide contained in the gel is the bleaching agent; it is about one third as powerful as the hydrogen peroxide used in cosmetic dentist teeth whitening. Like many home remedies it works well up to its limits; usually the home teeth whitening kits provide a bright smile that lasts for months rather than years.
There are also three types of teeth whitening toothpaste available from Rembrandt, at least one of which contains hydrogen peroxide. That puts a bleaching agent in contact with your teeth on a daily basis; it should provide reinforcement for whitened teeth but the peroxide may irritate your gums, although it is a miniscule fraction of the product. There is also a Rembrandt peroxide mouthwash, another daily hygiene product that contains a bleaching agent. This one is also subject to personal tolerance – some people may be sensitive to a very low level of peroxide and some may not.
Rembrandt’s products come from a pharmaceutical giant, so there is no concern about the products being involved in a sales scam. They provide various levels of teeth whitening effectiveness based on product design and the amount of bleaching agent each product contains.
