Complaints on Resveratrol Marketer

It’s a good guess that the producers of the Oprah Winfrey Show will be a little more cautious in the future about reviewing health fad products in the future.  They have sued forty internet sales firms over false endorsements of acai supplements supposedly given by Oprah and Dr. Oz, who does a health segment on the show.  It’s unfair to the health supplements industry that a few internet hustlers can give  acai products a bad name.

Another product that got a positive review on the show and has received thousands of complaints over unauthorized credit card billings is the firm marketing Resveratrol Ultra.  ConsumerAffairs.com and Oprah’s own viewer blog site lists hundreds of complaints.  There are undoubtedly additional complaints with state law enforcement and consumer protection agencies.

Resveratrol is a natural ingredient of red wine that is high in antioxidants and has been linked to the longevity and health that French citizens enjoy despite diets that are heavy in fat and that include red wine as a staple.  The link between this compound and red wine is supposedly the answer to what has been titled the “French Paradox.”

In countless marketing campaigns it is credited with anti-aging properties, diet supplements, help with high blood pressure and numerous other ailments.  It has also become the centerpiece for a variety of health supplements that are being sold under misleading terms.  People who sign up for ninety nine cent trial options find their credit cards being billed for over $80 for additional shipments that were not ordered.

That’s unfortunate, because there are lots of good reasons for including resveratrol in your diet, and there are dozens of quality resveratrol products on the market sold by reputable firms.  If you are interested in purchasing one, check with the Better Business Bureau on the product manufacturer’s reputation and stay away from free trials that require a credit card.
